If you've ever wanted to make a warm, nourishing, and subtly sweet tong sui, this Easy Tong Sui Recipe is perfect for you! A beloved Chinese tong sui soup, it’s packed with nutritious goodies like jujube (red dates), lotus seeds, goji berries, and tremella mushroom (snow fungus)—all simmered in a delightful, lightly sweetened broth with rock sugar.✨
This past weekend, my partner and I decided to prepare this comforting tong sui together. With the house feeling extra quiet, we enjoyed the process of preparing each ingredient. As soon as I pulled out our red Le Creuset pot, my partner smirked, "That's super cute and perfect for this dish!" ❤️
I took the lead in the kitchen, carefully measuring each ingredient to perfection. With a quick crush, the delicate tremella mushroom broke apart, ready to melt into the simmering pot. The rich aroma of red dates and rock sugar soon filled the air, wrapping the kitchen in warmth. Just as I settled into the rhythm of stirring and simmering, the kids came running in, noses in the air, eagerly asking, "What’s cooking?" 😃
With amused smiles, we told them they’d have to wait a little longer. "Is it ready yet?" became the recurring question every five minutes. By the time our tong sui soup was finally done, they were hovering around, bowls in hand, ready to dive in. Nothing brings the family together like the smell of a delicious, simmering Easy Tong Sui Recipe.
As we all enjoyed our nutritious, silky-smooth Easy Tong Sui, my partner and I exchanged a knowing glance—another successful recipe that not only nourished the body but brought us all together. 🥰
I hope you liked this tong sui recipe—because if my kids' empty bowls are any indication, it’s definitely a winner! Now, if only they were this eager to help with cleanup... 🤣

Step-by-Step Instructions for This Tong Sui Recipe:
1️⃣ Gather the Ingredients
Before you begin, gather all your ingredients—jujube (red dates), tremella mushroom, lotus seeds, goji berries, rock sugar, and water. Having everything prepped and measured ensures a smooth cooking process.
2️⃣ Boil the Water
Fill a Le Creuset pot with 8 cups of water and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat. This creates the perfect base for infusing the flavors of the ingredients.
3️⃣ Start with the Goji Berries
Add the goji berries first, letting them soften and release their natural sweetness into the broth. Stir gently as they begin to plump up.
4️⃣ Add the Lotus Seeds
Next, toss in the lotus seeds, giving the soup a mild nutty depth. Stir to ensure they’re evenly distributed.
5️⃣ Incorporate the Jujube (Red Dates)
Drop in the jujube (red dates) and let them simmer, allowing their rich, natural sweetness to infuse the broth.
6️⃣ Add the Tremella Mushroom
Carefully place the tremella mushroom (Snow Fungus) into the pot. Crush the tremella into little pieces for a perfectly smooth texture. Stir gently and let it cook for 25 minutes so the soup thickens to a silky consistency.
7️⃣ Sweeten with Rock Sugar
Finally, add the rock sugar, stirring until it fully dissolves. Simmer everything together for another 10 minutes. Taste the soup and adjust the sweetness as needed.
